3 Powerful Tips to Help Women Business Owners Unlock Marketing Success

If you’re a woman entrepreneur whether solo or with a team, chances are, you’ve wondered how to break through saturated online spaces with your brand, your message, and your services.

You’re not alone. Over the last seven years, I have talked to countless women who feel like they’re doing all the right things without results that reflect their time-consuming efforts.

They feel like their content isn’t measuring up, they’re in constant comparison mode, they’re afraid of judgment, and even worse, they feel stuck because they don’t even know how to start untangling themselves from the mental web they’ve woven.

Does this sound like you, too?

Spin your wheels no more. It’s time to create a brand and business built on pure passion and badass dedication that stands the test of time AND keeps you profitable. Here’s how!

1. Find Your True Supporters

If you’ve been in business for a while, you already know that your bestie from high school might not be your biggest supporter. And sure, no one loves you like your parents, but sometimes even they’re not sure how to support you.

Maybe you’re lucky and those closest to you are your die-hard supporters, but if you’re early in your business, chances are, you may not know who you can count on.

To find out, you’re going to have to ask. And, asking takes courage, vulnerability, and the willingness to feel rejected if they don’t respond in the way you’re hoping.

So, get out there, make a list of people you like, know, and trust, and see if they’re willing to make some introductions to the kinds of people you want to meet and do business with and start getting the positive recognition you crave and deserve.

Kick that fear of judgment and the comparison game straight to the curb like that ex who kept you crawling back!

2. Know Who You Want & How you Want to do Business

You didn’t start this business to blend in, you started it to stand out to the right people for the right reasons. Do you know who those right people are and why you want to do business with them? How does the way you do business offer a solution literally no one else can.

You could have a kick-ass service, but if you’re running it just like Super Sally over there (who might I add, you don’t even like), how can your authenticity have a chance shine through? You’re just asking to dull your own sparkle with that kind of behavior. Stop it!

Oh, and you’re throwing all kinds of marketing ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks without knowing what kind of clients you want and need? You are wasting your time, money, and precious energy. Women like us have WAY too much on our plates to keep doing that nonsense.

It’s time to become the reputable go-to expert who confidently shows up with a drive to build lasting business relationships over surface-level transactions to say goodbye once and for all to cold outreach and cringey sales conversations.

3. Show Up and Shine Online

I promise I’m not writing this blog to burst any bubbles, but showing up strategically online doesn’t mean starting Facebook personal & business pages, an Instagram personal & business account, adding LinkedIn, and mixing them all with a dash of Pinterest and a touch of TikTok.

It means knowing which social media platforms you should be on, having a strategy for how you show up, and a cadence of consistency that gives your followers an expectation of how often they can expect to hear from you.

All social media platforms are not, I repeat, are not created equally. Here’s my quick personal rundown:

  • Facebook personal: Friends, family, old high school friends

  • Facebook business: some friends, some family, biggest supporters, those interested in your services

  • Instagram personal: Friends, some family, everyone with mutual interests

  • Instagram business: Some friends, limited family, those interested in your services

  • LinkedIn personal: Relationship-driven business connections & prospects you genuinely know who are a good fit for your services

  • LinkedIn business: Same as above, but positioned as the business

  • TikTok: Friends, family, anyone who is a right fit for your business based on your aligned and algorithm-catered content

  • Pinterest: Friends, family, other followers with mutual hobbies and interests
